Fab Real Estate Blog: The Joy of Kids

The Joy of Kids

This morning, I was working on my laptop in the family room.  About 10 feet away, my three-year-old son was sitting at the kitchen table eating cheese.  He loves cheese.  He could eat it all day long.

What he likes even more than cheese is cheese with ketchup.  Sometimes it's best not to ask questions....

So, he's sitting at the table eating his cheese, dipping each piece in the ketchup.  No problem and all is right in his little world.

All of a sudden I smell something that reminds me of my youth.  It reminded me of bowling alleys and greasy french fries drenched in ketchup.  The greasy ketchup smell always reminds me of bowling alleys.

So, I look over and discover that my wonderful, beautiful, good-as-can-be three-year-old son has decided to once again make "Ketchup Art."

Ketchup Art

He makes me so proud.  Of course I took a picture.  We're saving pictures like this for his prom night.  We figure if we show these pictures to his date, it will become a platonic prom date.

At least this time he created his artwork on a dish.  Last time it was all over the kitchen table...and his shirt...and his pants...and his arms and hands...and his face.  That was fun to clean up.

Hi Nick - Yes, we will gladly rent out the kids for trial runs.  But, you have to take all three so that we can then take a vacation!

I have three sons.  They've made "art" with worse then ketchup.  Our middle child colored all the walls in his bedroom within a week of moving into our newly-built house.  Food often gets thrown at our kitchen walls - we call the stains "food art."  And, a couple of times, we've had "wall art" of a material that I won't mention here...

Still want to rent them out?  Your house...and your life will never be the same.  It will be better, even if you spend most of your time chasing them around and cleaning up after them.

You sound like a very fortunate man!  I hope you shop at Costco for bulk-size ketchup.  Best wishes!

Chris & Rhonda - with three boys, we buy everything in bulk.  Forget how much they waste making their art.  It still amazes me how much they can actually eat!

Don, It will be about 10 years before you'll really be amazed... The youngest of our 3 boys is 15 and the food actually disappears before I get to open it.  I remember the ketchup phase... It was potato chips with ketchup...

American cheese with ketchup on white bread. Mmmmnnn. That and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are what I grew up on.

I thought that was the Red Blob from Lizette's blog...

Dan - Actually, I like potato chips with ketchup.  But I won't let my kids see me do that - I'm afraid of what it may start!

Michele - My boys haven't discovered Hershey's syrup yet. Thanks for the warning!

Greg - he doesn't even want the bread.  Just the cheese and the ketchup!

Don... I  can prove my my point.  Went to BJ's this morning and off to an open house this afternoon.  Just got home and here is a shot of the kitchen table.  Out of the brand new 10 pack they left me one to go with my coffee.  Maybe they are looking out for my health and saving me from eating all this junk...

Dan - I feel your pain...I feel your pain.  But, you must have trained them right - at least they left one for dad!
